Subsidy for pre-natal health examination

I. Subsidy duration for pre-natal health examination

1.
First trimester (within 17 weeks) : subsidized twice

2.
Second trimester (between 17 weeks and before 29 weeks): subsidized twice

3.
Third trimester (after 29 weeks): subsidized 6 times
II. Subsidy content for pre-natal health examination

1. Clinical diagnosis: family medical history, past medical history, past pregnancy history, unpleasant symptoms, addiction inquiry

2.
Physical examination: personal and family medical history, personal pregnancy history, addiction inquiry, height, weight, blood pressure, breast, and abdomen examination.

3.
Laboratory testing: Blood routine( WBC、RBC、PLT、HCT、HB、MCV ) , blood type, RH factor, VDRL, Rubella lgG( If under special circumstances the patient cannot be tested, after the physicians professional diagnosis, the patient can include this test in any of the pre-natal examinations)

4.
Ultrasound testing: provided once during the second trimester (before or after 20th week). For those who cannot receive the test in their second trimester can receive the ultrasound testing during their third trimester.

5.
Health education and guidance: pregnant life notice, pre-natal genetic diagnosis, nutrition, birth signs, breast-feeding, and addiction inquiry and referral.

6.
GBS testing: provided once during the third trimester (30-35 weeks).

7.
Pre-natal health education and guidance: provided twice.
III. How to receive pre-natal health examination

Any new immigrants with residence documents for longer than 6 months can join the National Health Insurance. Or those who are employed, should have joined National Health Insurance from the date of employment.

i.
Subsidy for pre-natal examination of new immigrants without National Health Insurance


Basis of subsidy: In accordance to “Notice regarding medical institutions providing preventive care services” as set for Taiwan nationals.


Application procedure for pre-natal examination subsidy:


1.
After the new immigrant has confirmed pregnancy, application can be made with the original documentation of (1) household certificate, (2) passport or residence permit at the local township, town, city or district health centers.

Personnel at the local health center will check the identification document and keep a copy. The case record will then be logged in at the “mother and child health management database” of the Health Promotion Administration and the system will print out 11 pre-natal case records (including stub), 2 GBS testing subsidy documents (including stub), 1 GBS testing record, and 2 pre-natal health education and guidance documents. A total of 16 documents.


3.
After being chopped by the health center personnel, 14 documents will be issued to the applicant as medical certification. The stub and identification copy will be archived by the local health center for future reference.


4.
Applicant will receive pre-natal examination with her pre-natal case record ,1 GBS testing subsidy documents (including 1 GBS testing record), 2 pre-natal health education and guidance documents, and pregnancy handbook at the medical institution.and pregnancy handbook at the medical institution. At every examination, one case record is used and will not be re-issued if lost.


5.
Applicant can join the National Health Insurance six month after received her residence documents. After received National Health insurance, the applicant should use the “NHI IC” card during her examinations. Any previously received “pre-natal case record” will be voided and cannot be used simultaneously with the IC card.

ii.
Subsidy for pre-natal examination of new immigrants with National Health Insurance


1.
New immigrant after pregnancy confirmation can pick up the “pregnancy handbook” and receive pre-natal examination services.


2.
When receiving the pre-natal examination services, the patient must bring her “pregnancy handbook” and “NHI IC card”. The IC card is only for identification purposes only and does not deduct any subsidized amount. The patient need not pay co-payment, and only have to pay registration fee.


3.
In case of other medical needs after diagnosis that requires extra medical examinations, the patient must follow standard medical procedure and pay the outpatient co-payments.
