How do I applying for visiting Taiwan for insurance claim for death, one-time relief payment, remaining pensions fund, one-time consolation payment or inheritance?

Status verification

I.Visiting ROC for insurance claim, 1 time consolation or retirement pension, 1 time pension of the deceased, or for inheritance claim.

Who should file the application?

The application must be filed by:

I.The relative being visited

II.Relatives or friends living in ROC

III.Travel agent

Suitable Candidates

I.Civil workers or military personnel in ROC who are deceased during his/her employment, or deceased during his/her retirement plan, and have to legal beneficiary in ROC, the legal beneficiary residing in Mainland China may apply to enter ROC for the inheritance purpose.

II.Legal beneficiary residing in Mainland China of a deceased party receiving insurance claim, 1 time consolation or retirement pension, 1 time pension of the deceased as per the ROC and Mainland China Relations Laws and Regulations prior to the amendment on the 1st of July 1997 my apply to visit ROC for the inheritance purpose.

III.Those receiving compensation for accusation of treason or spy during the martial law period.

IV.Assets manager of deceased? assets in ROC Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defense or Veterans Affairs Commission, Executive Yuan.

Where to apply?

I.Applicants who are residing in other countries should file the application to a ROC embassy, representative office or organization authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs located in the country.

II.Applicants who are residing Hong Kong or Macau should file the application to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Hong Kong, address: 40th Fl., Tower One, Lippo Centre, 89 Queensway, Hong Kong; or Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Macau, address: Al. Dr. Carlos d'Assumpcao, No. 411- 417, Edif. Dynasty Plaza, 5 Andar J-O, Macau.

III.For applicants residing in China, the application must be filed by a relative staying in ROC to the National Immigration Agency service centers located in various cities or counties. Postal application will not be accepted.

Required documents

I.Please fill in the application form for people of Mainland China entering ROC with all the details required. Please attach a IV.5xIII.5cm in full color ID photo taken within 2 years. Hat must not be worn in the photo, and the party must not wear colored glasses, the facial features must be distinguishable and the length of the party? head must not be smaller than III.2cm or larger than III.6cm. The background of the photo must be white in color and must not be edited.

II.A copy of the Mainland China identification certificate or other documents certifying the applicant? identity.

III.A letter of indemnity: please provide a letter of the indemnity signed by the guarantor, original and copy of the guarantor? ID card. The original copy will be returned after verification by the National Immigration Agency centers of various cities of counties. Please refer to the descriptions on the back of the letter of indemnity for qualifications of the guarantor.

IV.If 2 or more applicants are present, 1 of them should be authorized as the representative and the copy of the authorization letter will be Straits Exchange Foundation. The original will be returned after verification.

V.Copy of the certificates proving heritance issued by the organization providing the insurance claim, 1 time consolation or retirement pension, 1 time pension of the deceased, or for inheritance claim. The application date must not exceed that stated on the certificates.

VI.Copy of documents proving applicant? relationship with the deceased party that are certified by the Straits Exchange Foundation. The original copy will be returned after verification. For those have provided the aforementioned documents during previous applications, please state in the application form that the applicant has been to ROC previously and countersign on the statement. These documents can then be omitted after the inspecting authority verifies that the documents were previous provided.

VII.Authorization letter: Not required if the applicant files the application personally. An authorization letter must be provided if the application is filed by other relatives or friends in ROC or by a travel agent.

VIII.If the applicant is staying in a third country, a copy of the third country? entry permit, residence permit, or Hong Kong ID card must be provided.

IX.Other documents. Must be authenticated by the Straits Exchange Foundation if the authority finds necessary.

Fees

The fees of the permit is NT$600. No additional cost will incur if registered return mail envelope is provided or if the permit is collected personally.

Things to know for application

Things to know for application and number of applications allowed:

I.Each applicant is limited to 1 application for insurance claim, 1 time consolation or retirement pension, 1 time pension of the deceased, or for inheritance claim The length of the stay must not exceed 1 month and no extension will be allowed.

II.The applicant must provide the deceased party? final employment organization or school with all the relevant documents and the respective organization or school must file the application to allow the applicant to visit ROC for the intended purpose. The Ministry of Defense must file the application if the deceased is a military personnel.

III.According to the ?ross-strait Laws and Regulations?? the heritance can only be claimed from the heritage management organization after approval.

IV.The application date must not exceed the date for the heritage claim stated on the documents issued by the respective organizations.
