How do I apply for visiting R.O.C. from a foreign country, Hong Kong or Macau?

Who will deliver those documents?

Apply and make an appointment for processing at the NIA? "Short-term Stay in Taiwan Online Application and Certification Management System for Residents from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao Areas," hereinafter referred to as ?he online application system.??The website is https://csts.immigration.gov.tw/home/index.? The applicants shall submit the application in person or authorize a travel agency to apply to any NIA overseas missions with accredited immigration representatives.

Who are eligible for application?

I.Who are eligible for application?

II.Those living abroad, in Hong Kong or Macau gaining local permanent residency.

III.Those living abroad, in Hong Kong or Macau gaining local joint-family residency and having a bank deposit equivalent to NT$200,000 or more.

IV.Those living abroad, in Hong Kong or Macau for more than one year and holding a work permit.

V.The accompanying spouses or any blood relatives within the second degree of kinship of the above people of the Mainland Area living abroad, in Hong Kong or Macau.

Where to apply?

Overseas missions of the NIA.

Required documents

I.Application form and tourist list: use the NIA online application system to fill in tourist information saving a copy of print out.

II.Travel plan or itinerary: upload it via the NIA online application system saving a copy of print out.

III.Passport issued by the Mainland Area valid for over six months or a photocopy of travel documents issued by Hong Kong or Macau government: provide it to a representative of the overseas mission to scan and upload via the NIA application system.

IV.Passport issued by the Mainland Area valid for over six months or a photocopy of travel documents issued by Hong Kong or Macau government: provide it to a representative of the overseas mission to scan and upload via the NIA application system.

V.Supporting documents for qualification: submit them while delivering application to the representative of the NIA overseas mission.
1.Those applicants as referred to in Paragraph 3, Subparagraph 1 should provide a photocopy of student visa or an original certificate of enrolment approved by local educational institutions and a photocopy of reentry visa.? Minor applicants without accompanying parents should submit a letter of consent from parents and a proof of kinship, such as a birth certificate, a proof of kinship issued by Public Security or the Permanent Residents Registration Card of the same family.
2.Those applicants as referred to in Paragraph 3, Subparagraph 2 should provide local permanent residency supporting documents.? Minor applicants without accompanying parents should submit a letter of consent from parents and a proof of kinship, such as a birth certificate, a proof of kinship issued by Public Security or the Permanent Residents Registration Card of the same family.
3.Those applicants as referred to in Paragraph 3, Subparagraph 3 shall provide a proof of joint-family resident visa at current address and a one-month deposit certificate of NT$200,000 or above issued by a financial institution.
4.Those applicants as referred to in Paragraph 3, Subparagraph 4 should submit a photocopy of inner page of passport where the entry-exit inspection stamp record shall be sufficient to prove the latest stay of more than one year living abroad or in Hong Kong and Macau, and a certificate of local work permit.
5.Those applicants as referred to in Paragraph 3, Subparagraph 5 shall submit the supporting documents to prove their relationship with the principal applicant, such as a birth certificate, a marriage certificate or any supporting documents issued by the local government.

VI.Affix to the registered envelopeenoughpostage: not required for those who pick up the Exit and Entry Permit in person from the NIA overseas mission with accredited immigration representatives.

Processing time

Three days counting from the day of submitting application to the NIA overseas mission with accredited immigration representatives.

Fees

Certificate fee: NT$600 per person or local currency equivalent.

Guidance notes

I.In order to regulate Mainland people from abroad or Hong Kong and Macau who want to visit Taiwan for the purpose of tourism, hereby make the following regulations about their application procedures and certification.

II.The regulations are intended for People from the Mainland Area who apply for visiting Taiwan to engage in tourist activities to our National Immigration Agency, hereinafter referred as ?IA,??from the embassies, representative offices or other agencies authorized by the government, hereinafter referred as ?verseas missions??with accredited immigration representatives.? For those overseas missions, please check the NIA website: http://www.immigration.gov.tw/np.asp?ctNode=29680&mp=1.? Those people from the Mainland Area who apply for visiting Taiwan to overseas missions shall follow the regulations for people from the Mainland Area visiting Taiwan for processing.

III.Application and certification:?
1.Logon the computer to our operating platform for application, "Short-term Stay in Taiwan Online Application and Certification Management System for Residents from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao Areas," hereinafter referred to as the online application system, and make an appointment for submission.? The website: https://csts.immigration.gov.tw/home/index.
2.According to the appointed delivery time, either the applicant visit in person or the accredited travel agency submit the application to overseas missions with immigration representatives and pay the fees.
3.After immigration representatives of overseas missions examine those applications filing in order, they will issue and sent the Exit and Entry Permit to the applicants or notify the applicants to collect it from the overseas mission they submit the applications.
4.Those who have completed the application process may not temporarily apply for the increase, replacement or substitute of accompanying people.

IV.Related issues:
1.Document fee: NT$600 per person or local currency equivalent paid when submitting application to the NIA overseas missions.
2.Processing period excluding national holidays or weekends: three days counted from the day of the NIA overseas missions filing applications.
3.Expiration date:
(1)The Exit and Entry Permit for people from the Mainland Area visiting Taiwan to engage in tourist activities will be valid for three months from the date of issuance but the extension is not allowed.
(2)Applicants should hold their Exit and Entry Permit issued by the NIA and the Pass issued by the Mainland Area valid for at least six months, and passport, to any airports and harbors designated by the Executive Yuan for exit and entry inspection.
4.Duration of stay: No more than 15 days counted from the next day of arrival in Taiwan.
5.Special extension: for those hospitalized due to illness, facing disaster or other extraordinary accidents and could not leave Taiwan before their permit expire, Taiwan travel agencies should bring the following documents to the NIA county or city service centers applying for an extension, each no more than seven days:
(1)Extension application form.
(2)The original Exit and Entry Permit.
(3)Relevant supporting documents
(4)Document fee NT$300 or local currency equivalent.

V.For those who have lost Exit and Entry Permit before arriving shall apply for reissuance from oversea missions and pay for document fee NT$600 or local currency equivalent to regain the Permit for inspection.? Applicants shall not apply for a replacement to the NIA after arriving at an airport or a harbor.? Anyone who fails to comply with rules will be banned from entering in accordance with Article 17, Paragraph 1, and Subparagraph 1 of The Regulation Governing the Approval of People of the Mainland Area Visiting Taiwan for Purposes of Tourism.

VI.For those who have lost Exit and Entry Permit before arriving shall apply for reissuance from oversea missions and pay for document fee NT$600 or local currency equivalent to regain the Permit for inspection.? Applicants shall not apply for a replacement to the NIA after arriving at an airport or a harbor.?
